The latest from McRae Gathering Towers - oh, and the chicken story!
We now have the ball firmly rolling on this event and if you're even half as excited about it as we are then we're in pretty good shape! Sticker sales have been incredible. We've sold just under 400 since they launched on the 15th with more orders coming in daily. In fact initial sales were SO high PayPal put our account under investigation within two days because of so much money coming into a new account. We sorted that out and a week later they put us back under investigation AGAIN! because of the funds coming in. We've sorted that out once more, but it was a load of hoops to jump through that we didn't really need to - especially given the commission they take from every sale. As things stand now with what's in the dedicated bank account - once we've paid for the sticker production, the McRae Charities are already going to benefit to the tune of over £3000 - and that's in just two weeks!
As far as clothing goes, we have had sample Polo shirts delivered. These now have to pass approval from various different people, but we don't anticipate any problem there. We did mention offering these in different colours, but following discussions, have now decided not to. There will be one colour which will be white. We'll explain our reasons behind this when the shirts launch - hopefully at the end of next week. Talking of clothing, we now come on to the chicken story! I've been sorting out the embroidered clothing and it's all been a bit of hassle with loads of emails flying back and fore between myself and the embroiderers. Finally, last week I thought we had it all sorted out. I got the following letter from them...

My immediate reply by email went along the lines of "If I sell shirts for a Colin McRae event advertising a chicken farm I will be publicly lynched"! Turns out they had two Andy's - both awaiting samples and the chickens had gone to the wrong Andy! It's all sorted out now and it is kinda funny to picture folk at the McRae Gathering wearing shirts promoting a Chicken Farm, but thankfully that will not happen! Now the chicken story is told, a few final points based on questions we've had! - Some people are emailing saying they've forgotten their account details to buy stickers. You don't need an account to buy online. Just run through the purchase online and an account is created for you.
- A tiny minority are raising questions as to why they have not received their stickers a week after ordering. As we said initially - "Please allow 28 days for delivery. We're pretty much geared up to get them out within a few days of ordering, but this is new to us and we expect an initial surge so please bear with us and allow us a bit of breathing space!!!" We have a LOT of orders to process and get out. - cheque orders. Yes - we will be taking these, but need to get the initial backlog of online orders sorted first. Do not worry. There is still pretty much three months till this event and you WILL get your admission stickers on time whether you order online or use alternate payments as they become available. We want as many Scoobs at this event as possible so we will do everything we can to help you, but we're just ordinary folk with real-life jobs to deal with over and above this. Please bear with us.
