We have received several enquiries about our standing in the Guinness World Record (GWR) and would like to update you with what has happened.
The 2010 printed edition shows another holder for the “Largest Car Mosaic” title - a worthwhile effort from Subaru fans in Japan making up the Subaru badge using 300-odd cars.
We acknowledge that our record attempt encompassed over three times that number of cars so we got in touch with the records people at GWR to find out what’s going on.
It turns out that, after looking at our aerial image of “Colin McRae”, they decided that it is not a “mosaic” in the true sense of the word, i.e. a picture, and have re-classified our attempt as “LARGEST CAR LOGO/IMAGE”.
While this is disappointing, we are still World Record Holders - unfortunately not for the record we were awarded at Warwick last year.
Our entry on the GWR website has been updated: http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/
We have also been issued with a revised certificate:

Also, there is no guarantee that we’ll make any future versions of the printed book, as there are so many records in existence.
However, we can take comfort in the fact that we are still record breakers,
we are still epic Colin McRae and Subaru fans,
that we pulled together to have a fantastic weekend and
raised £53,000 for his charity.
On other news, we have been asked by the family to help publicise the launch of the new Colin McRae Vision merchandise.
New clothing, books and models has been produced and a proportion of every sale will go towards the “Vision” charity.
