Access and approach to the Racecourse
There is only one entrance into the site. This will be used to enter and leave the racecourse.
The doors will be open from 9am, to allow sufficient time for everyone to arrive and get parked up.
To avoid congesting Chester town centre, please approach from the west.
If you are coming off the M56, go on to the A5480, following the signs for Chester Racecourse.
Left onto A548 Sealand Road, then New Crane Street. The racecourse will be on your right after the arches.
The sequencing of traffic lights further along at the railway bridge, supported by our marshals, should avoid a buildup of stationary traffic waiting to turn into the racecourse.
In case of excess traffic, you will be directed into the nearby Sealand Industrial Estate, which we will be using as a temporary holding area.
Please follow the instructions of the marshals in this instance.
You’ll find an interactive Google Map here >> http://maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?hl=en&gl=uk&ie=UTF8&oe=UTF8&msa=0&msid=104348251198208441837.00046e0a5638e41ffc605
Parking Permit
Please download and print this file ‘Parking Permit.pdf’ and display the permit inside your windscreen (driver side).
If you do not display this permit on your windscreen you will be charged £4.50 entry fee by Chester’s parking attendant.
Entry Fee
We are asking for a minimum donation of £5 on entry.
This will help us cover the costs of equipment we are using.
Anything over and above that will go to the Colin McRae Vision charity.
Parking Arrangements
You will be parking in the grassed open course area in the centre of the racecourse.
Please respect our event and the venue, drop your speed and drive carefully on the grass.
Anyone spotted doing wheel spins or donuts at any point of the day will be asked to leave… no arguments… no exceptions.
Enter the racecourse, go straight past parking attendant booth and head towards the white fence, turning right when you get to the Owners and Trainers pavilion.
Follow the road to the right and you will be directed to park in the open course area.
Once you have parked, you will need to walk back the way you came in, past the Owners and Trainer’s pavilion then left at the parking attendant booth, through the car park in front of the stands.
The presentation will take place at the Dee Stand, located at the far end of the site, passing County Stand and Tattersall Stand.
PLEASE NOTE:
- if you park here you are requested to stay to the end of the presentation, approx finish time 2pm. This is due to the volume of traffic we are expecting and also the single entrance/exit gate.
- there will be a 10 minute walk to where the presentation is taking place, to the Dee Stand.
Please let the marshals know if this is a problem for you/your passengers before you park, as once you are in the grassed car park we cannot let your car out until the end. - If you are not staying for the full event and need to leave early, let the marshals know when you turn into the racecourse and you will be directed to an alternative parking area.
Display and activities
There will be several static displays and the Colin McRae retail unit will be in attendance.
Also, Chester town centre is 10 minutes away on foot and you are free to go there to walk about, have some lunch and come back for 1pm.
Catering and other facilities
There are toilets at the Dee Stand.
There is also a restaurant near the Dee Stand (Restaurant 1539).
Menu can be found here>> http://www.restaurant1539.co.uk/index.php
You are welcome to bring your own lunch, but please dispose of your litter in the bins provided / take it away with you.
